THIS IS IT! A LONG GOODBYE SORTA LIKE OPRAH!
Well it’s been a long goodbye for Hill’s Gifts. We started our going out of business sale in October, around the 10th and now sadly we’re at the end. The Post Office closes today at 5 PM, it will no longer accept mail after that time. It will not be open New Year’s Eve. The store closes tomorrow, New Year’s Eve, Thursday at 5 PM. We will not re-open.
It has been a delight serving you and wonderful getting to know so many of our customers. While I, Marcia, your blog host, has only known the store and it’s “family” for a year and a half, I’ve met such nice people, it’s been a real treat. I will miss you all and hope to run into you here or there.
We hear the same comments over and over about how much you’ll miss the store and how much you loved shopping here. It’s rare to hear of a little ol store meaning so much to so many. To answer some of the other questions, Carol and Vicki will go back to retirement. Anna, Marcia and Trudi are all looking for jobs. We unfortunately are not in a position to retire! The owners, Darrell and Shar, will continue to run the Honk’s Dollar Stores and spend some time reading your wonderful comments in the memory book we gave to them last Sunday. (There were tears).
If you hear of any jobs for the three of us looking let us hear from you, you contact me, Marcia and I’ll get the word to the Trudi and Anna. My email is mkh1480@mac.com. (Marcia is also looking for a pet friendly place to live with really low rent, or I’m a great house sitter. I have a wonderful but very shy dog and now just 3 cats…one of my kitties had to cross the rainbow bridge earlier today).
